Spatial Distribution and Evolution of pH as a Function of Cation Exchange Capacity, Sum of Exchangeable Bases, and Organic Matter and Aluminum in the Soils of Foumban

Foumban, located in the Noun valley western Cameroon, is a prime location for food production. However, this locality experiencing significant decline productivity due to acidity of its soil. This linked behaviour certain soil properties essential plant growth. The present work aims study pH as function chemical parameters such CEC, organic matter, exchangeable bases, and aluminum map spatial structure parameter by kriging. To achieve objective, ninety samples were taken Foumban sent laboratory where physicochemical analyses carried out. results obtained processed statistical geostatistical software. made it possible establish relationships between other properties. R2 show that pH-exchangeable sum bases are strongly correlated while pH-CEC pH-organic matter weakly correlated. For distribution pH, Gaussian model was applied fit experimental semivariogram. low values semivariogram pH-water contents overall reflect strong correlation values. after kriging defines two groups soils area according their acidity: acidic which cover about 82.4% moderately occupy 17.6% area. Finally, appears remains real problem Foumban. risks toxicity should not be overlooked. rate use ammonia fertiliser reduced, especially with below 5.4. base inputs calcium carbonate (CaCO3) or hydroxide (Ca (OH)2) at normal doses recommended acid soils.
